Free & Bioavailable Testosterone

Testosteron dan dihidrotestosteron (DHT) beredar dalam plasma tidak terikat (bebas sekitar 2-3 persen), terikat pada protein plasma spesifik (SHBG), dan lemah terikat pada protein nonspesifik seperti albumin. The SHBG-bound fraction is biologically inactive because of the high binding affinity of SHBG for testosterone.

Certain health conditions and medications, such as corticosteroids, can affect SHBG levels, impacting total serum testosterone concentration.
